Indonesia has set ambitious goals to achieve a clean energy transition aimed at curtailing fossil fuel dependency and nurturing the renewable energy sector. The government has set a target to increase the renewable energy mix of 23 percent by 2025 and 31 percent by 2050 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2060. This ambition demands translation into decisive and comprehensive actions.
The Energy Transition (ET) Committee aims to highlight the role of the private sector in energy transition. The committee will be focal point for our advocacy efforts, raise awareness on energy transition, and serve as a platform for in-depth discussion of topics such as the transition to renewables, technologies to reduce emissions, the role of fossil fuels, energy affordability, conversion from coal to cleaner forms of fuel, the future of fuel (with an emphasis on hydrogen as a sustainable option), and energy security among members.
The committee meets on a regular basis to review and analyze issues facing the renewables and non-renewables energy industry with respect to the Indonesian government’s energy transition plans, which may feature relevant guest speakers.
The committee will be co-chaired by VP Business Development Asia Pacific, ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions; and Ferita Damayanti, Manager Corporate Affairs, Chevron; and the PIC from the AmCham team is Pat Puspitasari, Policy Advocate.
