Dear AmCham Members and Friends, In this COVID-19 update for members and friends we include an analysis of the impact of the crisis on the ASEAN region, a translation of a press release on the recently announced restrictions on foreigners visiting Jakarta and information on a lengthy press conference held by the Ministry of Finance today to discuss economic incentives to deal with the fallout from the crisis. Government press conference on economic stimuli Thanks to Ellisa Kosadi of the AmCham staff for the attached report on a press conference by the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia (BI), the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) held on April 1.

As most of you have noticed, AmCham has launched a vigorous translation service to assist the government in getting news out about its COVID-19 efforts in English to stakeholders in the business community and beyond. This could not be done without the support of our members.

Youngsters pitch in
The co-chair of AmCham’s Education and Workforce Development Committee, Karl Keuroghlian has alerted us to an effort by a group of students under the banner Anak Indonesia Bersatu. The young people, who attend various Jakarta high schools, have launched a kitabisa (we can) campaign to raise funds for COVID-19 relief. They call themselves “a group of young Indonesians trying to make an impact on the country they love.” Among those supporting their appeal is Ace Hardware!
