AmCham Indonesia Halal Working Group held a Courtesy Audience Meeting with the Executive Office of the President (KSP) on September 4, 2026, led by Prof. Dr. Popy Rufaidah, PhD, Acting Deputy Chief of Staff II for Economic and Food Affairs and Major General (Ret.) Benny Octaviar, Acting Deputy Chief of Staff I for Politics, Security and Law.
The meeting provided an opportunity for AmCham Indonesia to share members’ perspectives on the implementation of mandatory halal certification prior to the deadline on October 17, 2026. During the discussion, AmCham members also shared halal broader implications for Indonesia’s investment climate, trade, supply-chain resilience, and economic competitiveness, including implementation preparedness, the ongoing development of technical guidelines, the transition to non-halal labeling requirements, and recent regulatory developments.
The discussion also emphasized the importance of effective coordination across government stakeholders and a predictable, proportionate, and risk-based implementation approach to support business continuity while advancing the Government’s halal assurance objectives.
AmCham Indonesia appreciates KSP’s engagement and the opportunity for constructive dialogue on this important issue. We look forward to continued engagement with government stakeholders to support a regulatory environment that strengthens investment confidence and Indonesia’s competitiveness.
