Derivative regulations of the omnibus Health Law, issues related to local content requirements, mandatory halal certification for pharmaceutical and medical devices, and import restrictions were discussed at AmCham’s Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Committee meeting on Feb 23.
Country Director of Vriens and Partners Donna Priadi kicked off the meeting with post-election political updates, highlighting the need for businesses to stay vigilant and closely monitor the transition process to the new administration. On the key industry issues, member companies – representing the pharmaceutical, medical devices, and consumer goods sectors – raised questions and discussed advocacy strategies to respond to the possible changes in health policy in the new administration, over-the-counter (OTC) medication distribution and local content requirement (TKDN) regulations.
The committee also discussed advocacy plans and priorities for 2024. AmCham will continue to monitor the development of the regulations and engage closely with government stakeholders.
