Human Resources Committee Meeting : Women In The Workplace
July 14, 2022 | by AmCham Webmaster

AmCham Indonesia hosted its first in person committee meeting on July 12, with the theme Women in the Workplace, under the Human Resources Committee. The discussion focused on sharing experiences of women's development; company policies for dealing with difficulties women face in male-dominated workplaces; and legal perspectives surrounding maternity leave, sexual harassment policies, and other related issues.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from HR Committee Co-Chair and Global Head of Mass Operations at Vision-Ease, Milind Gadre, and was moderated by fellow HR Committee Co-Chair and Partner at SSEK Stephen Warokka.

Donna Priadi, Country Director at Vriens & Partners, spoke about adjusting to a male-dominated workplace and how it feels to be strong to survive. Donna emphasized the significant differences in women engineers today compared to when she began her career in engineering. She also encouraged women to believe in themselves and to respect themselves.

Rusmaini Lenggogeni, Senior Partner at SSEK, expressed gratitude for being surrounded by women in her early career experiences, as Indonesia has many female lawyers. She has, however, dealt with male dominance while working with lawyers in the US and Europe. She talked about sexual harassment policies and whistleblowers in the workplace, along with the changes that Covid-19 has made to the workplace.

Indah Prihardini, Market HR Cluster Lead SEA at Google, said Google promotes women's career advancement by cultivating the right environment, such as collaboration and a sense of community, and providing supportive infrastructure. She spoke about Google's program for tracking women workers' development and its promotion and mentoring program, which require a strong commitment from the company's leadership.

Attendees also quizzed the panel on the Maternal and Child Welfare Bill and policies regarding furthering the number of women employees in the workplace. The event was hosted under strict health protocols and adhered to the rules and regulations of the venue.
