Event
(IN-PERSON) The Implications of the new US Foreign Extortion Prevention Act (FEPA)
Feb 28, 2024 / 08:30 - 10:00

Dear AmCham Members and Friends,

We cordially invite you to our in-person morning discussion “The Implications of the new US Foreign Extortion Prevention Act (FEPA)” on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 08:30–10:00 (GMT 7).

The invitation-only discussion is hosted by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), the international affiliate of the US Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is a key backer of FEPA, the most significant new foreign anti-corruption law in decades.

Signed into law in December 2023, FEPA makes it a crime for a foreign official to solicit a bribe from a US company or any company with a US nexus. The event is an opportunity to hear from Scott Greytak, Director of Advocacy of Transparency International US, on what the law includes and how the US Department of Justice is likely to implement it. Former KPK commissioner Erry Riyana Hardjapamekas will be on hand to moderate a discussion on FEPA's potential implications for Indonesia, what the results of this month's election may mean for Indonesia's anti-corruption climate, and a business-led coalition, Koalisi Anti Korupsi Indonesia (KAKI), that is fighting corruption through collective action.

The event is sponsored by a new program being unveiled by CIPE in Indonesia to "Galvanize the Private Sector as Partners in Combating Corruption (GPS)" with the support of the US State Department.

Thank you for your attention and we look forward to your participation!

Regards,

AmCham Indonesia
