Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia's Economic Development (MP3EI)
On May 27, 2011 the GOI unveiled its "Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia's Economic Development (MP3EI)". The MP3EI aims to grow the Indonesian economy in order to reach "advanced economy" status by 2025. The plan focuses on 22 economic activities and 6 economic corridors throughout the country. Moreover, MP3EI outlines strategies to strengthen national and international connectivity while enhancing human resource capacity. The plan is quite ambitious and reflects the current optimism in Indonesia today. Although the plan aims to significantly elevate Indonesia's economy and standard of living, it makes a number of assumptions that must be fulfilled to be successful. Additionally, policies related to MP3EI may affect businesses in unforeseen ways.
