Jakarta Flood Relief
Massive floods in Jakarta in early 2007 affected thousands of locals and brought business to a standstill. Future flooding remains a real risk during flood season (November to March) and an unfortunate reality of Jakarta. As part of its contribution to the community, AmCham Indonesia promotes the following Flood Relief program on behalf of Jakarta International School (JIS), a member of the Chamber.
JIS Cares/JIS Peduli, a service arm of JIS, invites you to help provide immediate and future relief for flood victims in Jakarta through a matching donation program. Jakarta International School will match donations up to a total of 15 Million Rupiah to purchase the contents of hygiene kits for those in flooded local kampungs.
In a joint effort with Mercy Corps, JIS first responded to victims of local flooding in 2002. Massive Jakarta floods in 2007 renewed the task in earnest as students and alumni mobilized volunteers to fund, assemble and distribute hundreds of hygiene and sanitation kits to those affected by annual flooding.
